I agree. Hybels had a powerful message for dealing with troubled times.

Also, my favourite speaker from summit this year was probably hybels. I loved his talk on rogue waves.

The leadership summit was worth participating in. Bill Hybels did a great talk about leading in turbulent times which is a reality these days. They reported out on churches that have been inspired to help alleviate poverty and aids that were motivated by Bonos talk in 2006. As Bono says, the church has been late to the party in dealing with the aids crisis. The Kiva story is really cool (www.kiva.org). Someone had an idea and ran with it and now they have given out 84million $$$ in microloans since 2005. Amazing what God can do through people willing to do something.

Hi everyone, just wanted to say that my family and I are now back in Canada full-time. I'm working full-time at a church in Penticton, BC, and am looking forward to a new chapter of life and ministry here in my home and native land. :) I'm going to be needing to re-learn a bunch about Canadian culture, but am looking forward to it all. Hoping to connect more with all of you on the site as well...

OH yes! now I remember. The closest location to me is Kelowna and the dates don't jive with me. I too was eager to hear Bono. Should be awesome.

The leadership summit is a an annual church leadership equipping conference from Willow Creek (Lead where you are) that broadcasts out of Chicago and is satellited into many locations around the world. This year it is Aug 6 and 7. I will be participating in Edmonton. There are great speakers on leadership and the conference inspires you on the importance of the local church. You can access info on the speakers at www.growingleadership.com/summit. I am especially looking forward to the interview from Bono on the churches response to global poverty and the AIDS crisis.
